We are recruiting for Trainee Solicitors across our offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness and Elgin to join us in September 2026, specialising in one practice area for two years.
At Harper Macleod, our traineeships are challenging and we encourage you to take responsibility from the start, but we’re guessing you are already ambitious and will push yourself to be better. Needless to say, support is provided all the way and you have the opportunity to take part in a fantastic training programme tailored to our business. You can also look forward to getting involved with groups such as social, wellbeing and sustainability, as well as providing pro-bono work to charities and up-and-coming entrepreneurs. We also host trainee-specific networking events, and much more!

This year we are recruiting for specialist Trainees to focus on one practice area for the duration of their traineeship. We have specialist traineeships available in the following areas:
A specialist traineeship is ideal if you already know which area you want to focus on. It will enable you to gain an in-depth knowledge of this area more quickly and allow you to establish yourself in the team, building relationships and increasing your technical skills in one area.
Our Trainees are our potential Partners of the future. We will develop and invest in you throughout your traineeship and beyond. You’ll also have access to the latest legal technology to help improve your skills.
