Planning solicitor (NQ–3 opportunity in Edinburgh or Glasgow. Broad planning and consenting work across development and infrastructure projects within a supportive Scottish team.

Job Description

A well-established legal practice seeking a planning solicitor (NQ-3) to join it's team in Edinburgh or Glasgow. 

The role offers exposure to a broad range of planning and consenting matters, supporting both private and public sector clients across Scotland. The successful candidate will work on a mix of contentious and non-contentious work, gaining experience across development, infrastructure and regulated projects, with appropriate supervision and support.

The role will involve:

  • Advising on planning and consenting processes under Scottish legislation
  • Supporting applications, appeals, hearings and related procedures
  • Assisting with infrastructure, development and compulsory purchase matters
  • Working with colleagues across real estate and project-led teams
  • Drafting reports, agreements and advisory documents
  • Developing client relationships and contributing to team growth

The ideal candidate:

  • Is Scots law qualified (or dual qualified), NQ-3
  • Has experience in, or a genuine interest in, planning and infrastructure law
  • May come from private practice, the public sector or an in-house background
  • Is organised, collaborative and comfortable managing multiple workstreams
  • Has strong drafting skills and a considered, detail-focused approach
