Job Description

A respected full-service Scottish law firm is seeking an employment solicitor with a minimum of 2 years’ PQE to join its busy Employment team based in Edinburgh.

About the Role
The Employment team advises a diverse client base, including SMEs and charities, on a wide range of employment law matters. The successful candidate will provide practical, high-quality advice to employers and individuals on issues such as disciplinaries, grievances, terminations, redundancies, mergers, reorganisations, and settlement agreements. The role also involves tribunal representation for both claimants and respondents and supporting corporate teams with employment-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising employers on all aspects of employment law including contracts, policies, disciplinary and grievance processes, redundancies, and organisational changes
  • Advising individuals on settlement agreements, exit negotiations, and related employment disputes
  • Representing clients at Employment Tribunals
  • Providing employment law support to corporate and commercial property teams
  • Training and supervising junior staff
  • Keeping up to date with legal developments and firm-wide services
  • Supporting business development through client relationship management and marketing initiatives
  • Raising the profile of the employment team through networking and cross-selling

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 2 years’ PQE with solid employment law experience
  • Strong technical legal knowledge and practical application skills
  • Confident working independently and managing a varied caseload
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Proactive, organised, and commercially aware
  • Proven networking skills and motivation to grow a client base
