Charities Solicitor (5+ years')

Job Description

An established Scottish law firm is seeking an Associate or Senior Associate to join its Charities & Third Sector team in Edinburgh. The team advises a broad range of clients, from local community groups and start-ups to international charities and networks, on charity law, governance, restructuring, regulatory compliance, and trustee training.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality legal advice on charity law and regulatory matters, including OSCR reorganisations, restructurings, and governance issues.
• Prepare and deliver trustee training sessions.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members.
• Contribute to business development initiatives and help grow the Charities & Third Sector practice.
• Support cross-selling opportunities across the firm and maintain strong client relationships.

You will: 

• Ideally be experienced in advising charities, not-for-profit, or social enterprise clients, or candidates from corporate, private client, or public law backgrounds seeking a sector focus change.
• Be able to work with minimal supervision and deliver practical, commercial advice.
• Have strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.D
• emonstrate a genuine interest in the sector through work, trusteeships, volunteering, or public interest initiatives.
