Ormistons Law is a specialist mental health law firm, working across Scotland to uphold the rights of some of the most vulnerable individuals in society. Due to continued growth, we are pleased to offer an additional trainee solicitor position within our team.
We are seeking a meticulous, adaptable, and empathetic individual with a genuine commitment to advocacy and social justice. This is an opportunity to join a close-knit, highly experienced firm where your work will have a direct and meaningful impact.
You will receive comprehensive, structured training throughout your traineeship, with ongoing supervision and support from your training manager and a team of specialist solicitors. Upon qualification, you will manage your own caseload, representing clients across the country and attending Mental Health Tribunals.
What we’re looking for:
A strong and demonstrable commitment to mental health law and client advocacy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High attention to detail and strong organisational ability
The ability to work independently and adapt within a dynamic legal environment
A full, clean UK driving licence (essential due to the national nature of the role)
This is a rare opportunity to train with one of the UK’s few firms dedicated exclusively to mental health law, where you will play a vital role in protecting the rights and dignity of individuals detained under the Mental Health Act.
Start Date:
The successful candidate will ideally commence their traineeship as soon as possible in 2026.
