Job Description

We have a vacancy for an ambitious and committed Trainee Solicitor to join our busy and growing court practice based in central Edinburgh. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a genuine interest in criminal defence work and who is passionate about the pursuit of justice.

The correct candidate will appear in court at the earliest possible stage in order to gain hands-on experience in summary court procedure.  

You Must Be

• Well organised, proactive and hardworking;
• Passionate about and able to serve and meet the needs of many vulnerable clients under the provision of Legal Aid;
• Able to work on your own initiative and be flexible to meet the needs of the firm;
• Able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
• Able to work on a diverse caseload under demanding deadline pressures;
• Able to work as part of a small but growing team to help achieve the goals of the firm.

We are willing to consider applications from Trainee solicitors seeking to assign from their present traineeships.

All candidates must have a valid and full UK driving licence and have the use of their own vehicle.

Salary will be in line with the recommended rates set by the Law Society of Scotland.
