About the Role

As a trainee in our Life Impact Team, you will work alongside experienced Solicitors supporting survivors of abuse as they seek justice, accountability and access to specialist legal advice. You will play a meaningful role in helping clients through some of the most difficult experiences of their lives. While the work is highly rewarding and makes a genuine difference, it also involves dealing with sensitive and often distressing matters, requiring empathy, resilience and a compassionate approach.

You will be guided and mentored by highly experienced specialists within your team while developing the practical skills required to progress your legal career.

Responsibilities vary but may include:

  • Assisting with client consultations and meetings, gathering relevant information and supporting the progression of cases.
  • Drafting legal documents including court papers, correspondence, and other legal documentation.
  • Conducting legal research to support case preparation, strategy and advice to clients.
  • Liaising with clients, medical professionals, financial institutions, public bodies and other third parties to progress claims efficiently.
  • Attending court hearings and case reviews alongside Senior Solicitors and Advocates where appropriate.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with regulatory and firm compliance requirements.

 

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious individual with a genuine enthusiasm for the legal profession and a strong interest in supporting survivors through compassionate, client-focused legal representation.

Applicants should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with empathy, emotional resilience and the ability to build trust with clients who may be discussing highly sensitive and traumatic experiences. 

A high level of attention to detail, the ability to manage competing priorities effectively, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential. 

A commitment to delivering exceptional client care with professionalism, sensitivity and respect is fundamental to this role.

Applicants must be able to travel to our Glasgow office, where this role is based full time (hybrid working is not available).

Applicants must have completed, or be due to complete, their Diploma in Professional Legal Practice by no later than August 2026. 

Applicants must also be available to attend our induction programme from 25th August 2026 onwards. Their traineeship will commence on 1st September 2026, with mandatory attendance required on 1st – 3rd September 2026
