Senior Employment Associate - Remote - International Employment Specialist

Job Description

Location: Remote

Hours: Flexible, both full and part-time available on a permanent contract.

PQE: 6 years+

This opportunity offers an exceptionally flexible, remote working arrangement on a permanent contract, suitable for both full and part-time hours. BCL Legal is partnering exclusively with a prominent international employment law specialist to recruit an experienced Senior Employment Associate (6+ years PQE) for a truly innovative role.

This position represents a fresh approach to private practice. There are no targets for personal fees, billing obligations, debt collection, business development, or article writing. Instead, you have autonomy to select the type of work you wish to undertake and are compensated accordingly.

The role

The role allows lawyers to blend client secondments—usually offered remotely—with advisory project work, including Employment Tribunal litigation. You are free to determine your ideal balance: some prefer a mix of secondments and project work, while others choose consecutive secondments. The firm is committed to accommodating individual needs, offering flexible hours and working patterns, including part-time and reduced hours.

Secondments are typically part-time, fully or partially remote, and involve working with well-known multinational clients in sectors such as media, technology, retail, and professional and financial services. The contract is permanent, ensuring stability in basic pay and benefits, with scope to increase income based on your chosen work types. Full IT equipment and ongoing technical support are provided for your home office.

You will become an integral part of the team, invited to all social events, and benefit from comprehensive professional development and training opportunities.

About you

At least 6 years' PQE – specializing within Employment Law
Excellent academics and strong UK employment law knowledge, up to date with recent developments
Strong interpersonal and team-working skills
Qualified in Scotland or England & Wales
In-house and/or Employee Relations experience is beneficial for secondments but not essential
