Job Description

Oculus Legal Group is delighted to be partnering with a well-established, highly regarded Scottish law firm as they look to appoint a Senior Associate or Director into their Commercial Property practice. This is a senior, strategic appointment aligned directly with the firm’s succession planning. This appointment carries genuine influence, working closely with senior colleagues and advising a long-standing client base across the West of Scotland. The role sits within a partner-led, relationship-driven practice and offers exposure to high-quality commercial property work rather than volume-led transactions, offering long-term value and meaningful involvement in the future direction of the practice.

Why Join?

This opportunity exists as part of the firm’s considered approach to succession and long-term continuity within its Commercial Property offering.

The firm is respected for the quality of its advice, stability of its client relationships and low levels of attrition. Rather than pursuing rapid expansion, it is focused on strengthening its senior capability and ensuring continuity for clients and colleagues alike.

For the right individual, this offers:

  • Real influence over the direction of the Commercial Property practice
  • A credible platform to deepen existing client relationships
  • Long-term career positioning within a smaller, well-regarded firm
  • A collegiate environment where contribution is recognised and valued
  • An initially salaried appointment with a clear and agreed pathway to equity, reflecting contribution and long-term commitment

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on a broad range of commercial property matters including acquisitions, disposals, leasing and development work
  • Act as a trusted adviser and key point of contact for established clients
  • Play an active role in business development and strengthening client relationships
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior lawyers, contributing to the continued development of the team
  • Work closely with senior colleagues as part of the firm’s longer-term strategic growth

About You

  • A Scottish qualified Commercial Property Senior Associate or Director with atleast 7+ years’ PQE (flexible for the right individual)
  • Strong technical grounding combined with a commercial, client-focused approach
  • Comfortable operating at a senior level and contributing beyond fee-earning
  • Motivated by the opportunity to help shape and develop a practice within a smaller, well-respected firm
