The Scottish Borders really is a beautiful part of the world and, for anyone looking for a better work/life balance without feeling disconnected from Edinburgh, it has so much to offer.

Job Description

The Borders is easily accessible from the city by train, so you don't necessarily need to already live locally. Perhaps you fancy swapping the busy daily commute for a more leisurely train journey, or maybe you've been thinking about relocating somewhere with a slightly different pace of life. Either way, you certainly don't have to compromise on your career to achieve that balance.

I am working with a well-established and highly regarded practice that is looking to appoint a Residential Conveyancing Solicitor to join its team in Galashiels.

This is a great opportunity for a Solicitor who enjoys managing their own caseload, building genuine relationships with clients and providing a really personal service.

You will manage a broad Residential Conveyancing caseload from initial instruction through to completion, including sales and purchases, remortgages, transfers of title and new build transactions. Given the location and client base, there is also the opportunity to gain exposure to rural property work.

Applications are welcomed from Solicitors from NQ level upwards, including more experienced candidates. Depending on your level, you should be comfortable managing your own transactions, drafting and negotiating missives and liaising directly with clients, estate agents, lenders and other solicitors.

Just as importantly, this is somewhere that genuinely values its people. You will be joining a close-knit and supportive team where your contribution will be recognised and where there is plenty of opportunity to develop your experience and take on greater responsibility as your career progresses.

There will also be the opportunity to become involved in business development and networking and, for someone more experienced, to support and supervise junior members of the team.

If you're currently working in Edinburgh and wondering whether there might be life beyond the city, or you're already based in the Borders and would like to build your career closer to home, I think this is well worth exploring.

You can have the work/life balance that comes with being based in the Borders while developing a career that can more than match its city counterparts – and then some.

An attractive salary and benefits package will be offered depending on experience.
