You know the mechanics.
You know where the risks sit.
You know which issues are genuinely important and which ones have somehow acquired three weeks of email traffic without getting any more important.
The bigger question is what sort of role you want to have in the market.
I’m interested in speaking with senior Commercial Property Solicitors in Edinburgh, particularly those at Associate, Senior Associate or Legal Director level who feel ready for a role with more weight behind it.
There is active recruitment at the senior end of the Edinburgh real estate market at present.
And for me, this stage of a career is not really about finding another firm with another impressive client list.
It is about influence.
Your influence over transactions.
Your influence with clients.
Your ability to shape relationships rather than simply service them.
And whether the platform around you gives you enough room to build something that feels like your own.
By 8+ PQE, you are probably already trusted with significant transactions.
You are likely mentoring junior lawyers.
You may already be the person clients call first.
But there is a difference between being a very experienced lawyer in somebody else’s practice and being given the opportunity to become a visible part of the practice itself.
That is the distinction I’d be thinking about.
The Edinburgh commercial property market remains strong enough to give experienced lawyers options, particularly those with investment, development, asset management or broader transactional experience.
The right move at this level should not just mean more files.
It should mean better exposure, more autonomy and a clearer sense of what the next five years could actually look like.
If you are a senior Commercial Property Solicitor in Edinburgh, around 8+ PQE, and you would like a confidential conversation about the market, contact Neil Campbell at QED Legal.
I’ll give you a straight view of what is out there, where your experience could fit and whether there is anything genuinely worth exploring.
