Job Description

I’m working on a genuinely new Senior Associate opportunity within an established real estate team in Edinburgh, aimed at lawyers with a minimum of five years’ PQE who want good quality work, proper responsibility and a broad commercial property practice rather than being pushed into one narrow corner of the market.

The work will be a genuine mix.

Commercial leasing will form a significant part of the role, alongside development work and borrower-side real estate finance.

That last part is important. This isn’t simply a mainstream leasing role with the occasional finance matter dropped in. There is scope here for someone who understands the relationship between property, development and funding and enjoys working across all three.

Cross-border experience would be particularly interesting, especially lawyers who have worked on English and Scottish transactions or regularly dealt with clients, lenders, developers or advisers operating across both jurisdictions.

At 5+ PQE, they’re looking for someone who can run with matters, deal confidently with clients and play a meaningful role within the team, but there is still plenty of headroom beyond Senior Associate.

It could suit somebody already operating at this level who feels their current role has become a little too predictable, or an experienced Associate who knows they’re ready for the next step but doesn’t particularly fancy waiting another two years for somebody to notice.

Edinburgh based, good quality commercial real estate work and, importantly, an opportunity that hasn’t already been around the houses.

If you’re a 5+ PQE real estate solicitor and would like to hear who it is and why I think the opportunity is worth a conversation, contact Neil Campbell at QED Legal.
