Litigation Associate/Senior Associate – Debt Recovery.

Glasgow – Remote.

£65k - £70K NEG (DOE) + Excellent Benefits Package.

We are delighted to partner with our client who are one of the UK’s largest specialist debt recovery law firms, widely recognised as a market leader in the provision of high quality, ethically led services, and in customer engagement and rehabilitation.

Due to continuous business growth, our clients are expanding their legal services and expertise to Scotland.

We are actively seeking experienced Litigation debt recovery specialist to join their new flagship office based in Glasgow.

This career opening will be initially based remotely for a period of 6 months, thereafter the role will become a hybrid working model.

The role itself entails undertaking work on client matters, providing high-quality legal advice and services in accordance with client SLAs and Scottish legal practice standards.

Ensure all work meets accuracy and compliance requirements under Scottish law and contributes to the firm’s profitability through efficient and cost-effective delivery.

 

Key areas of responsibility;

·       Act in litigation for secured and unsecured matters under Scottish jurisdiction with minimal supervision

·       Advise clients on legal actions and alternatives under Scots law

·       Manage files in line with firm and department procedures

·       Ensure compliance with Scottish court rules and deadlines

·       Keep abreast of changes in Scottish legislation and case law

·       Support practice development and cross-selling opportunities

·       Collaborate across teams to develop new business streams

·       Maintain technical expertise in Scottish litigation and debt recovery

·       Represent clients in Scottish courts, including Sheriff Court and Court of Session, for debt recovery and related litigation.

·       Prepare and lodge court documents such as Initial Writs, Defences, and Motions in compliance with Scottish civil procedure.

·       Negotiate settlements and alternative dispute resolution under Scots law.

·       Advise clients on enforcement options, including diligence procedures (e.g., Charge for Payment, Earnings Arrestment, Inhibition).

·       Liaise with Scottish advocates and counsel where required for complex matters.

·       Ensure compliance with Law Society of Scotland Accounts Rules and client money handling requirements.

·       Maintain accurate records and billing in line with Scottish professional standards.

·       Provide training and guidance to junior team members on Scottish legal processes as required.

·       Monitor developments in Scottish legislation and case law, updating internal guidance and client advice accordingly.

·       Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities within the Scottish market

 

We are interested to hear from;

·       Experience qualified Litigation Solicitors, specialising within debt recovery secured/unsecured debt recovery litigation

·       Strong knowledge of Scottish court processes (Simple Procedure, Ordinary Cause, Summary Cause)

·       Ability to draft Scottish pleadings and legal documentation

·       Emerging reputation for expertise in Scots law
