Job Description

 

Our client is a long-established and highly respected legal practice with a strong reputation in property, private client and employment law.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Cashier to join the team on either a full-time or part-time permanent basis. The successful candidate will work alongside an outsourced cashier support function, ensuring the role is well supported with the capacity to deliver an efficient and effective accounts service.

The successful candidate must have previous experience working within a Scottish legal cashroom and possess a strong understanding of Scottish solicitors' accounts. Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills are also essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opening and closing client account files
  • Maintaining accurate financial records
  • Processing and inputting accounting information
  • Completing monthly bank reconciliations and month-end checks
  • Preparing quarterly and annual VAT returns
  • Processing banking transactions and payments
  • Managing petty cash
  • Raising invoices and overseeing credit control
  • Ensuring compliance with Scottish legal accounting regulations
  • Supporting other finance-related duties as required

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Legal Cashier within a Scottish legal practice
  • Strong knowledge of Scottish solicitors' accounts rules
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good communication and IT skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Salary & Benefits

  • £30,000–£37,500 per year, depending on experience and contracted hours
