Information Governance Officer, Two permanent roles, 35 hours per week, £38,787 per annum.

It is an exciting time to join the Law Society of Scotland. We are building and deploying a new FOI compliance regime and modernising our approach to information governance.

We have an opportunity within the Information Governance Team for two Information Governance Officer’s (IGO). We are looking for someone who is proactive, detail-focused and able to champion high standards of data protection, information management and organisational transparency while supporting colleagues across the organisation with clear, practical guidance.

The successful candidate will be joining our Legal and Governance Team which includes Information Governance, Governance and Corporate Complaints teams.

Key Responsibilities for this role:

  • Support IG best practice and compliance with our statutory and regulatory obligations
  • Work closely with our IG Champions to raise awareness of IG requirements
  • Support the team in producing routine internal and external reports
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of IG policies, procedures, and guidance

Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Understanding of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, and information rights
  • Experience working in an information governance, data protection, or records management environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., FOISA Practitioner Certificate or Data Protection Certificate)
