Head of Private Client | Glasgow or Edinburgh | Exclusive leadership appointment within a respected Scottish law firm. Take full ownership of a well-established Private Client function, shape its future direction, and drive growth.

Job Description

You will take responsibility for leading the Private Client department, ensuring both operational performance and long-term strategic growth. This includes day-to-day leadership of the team, driving efficiency, and building on an already established but under-optimised platform. You will work closely with senior leadership and partners, with direct influence over departmental direction and future investment decisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage the Private Client department on a day-to-day basis
  • Drive departmental growth, performance, and profitability
  • Develop and implement improved processes, systems, and workflows
  • Expand the team in line with demand and strategic objectives
  • Maintain and develop strong client relationships across the portfolio
  • Oversee wills, executries, trusts, powers of attorney, and guardianships work
  • Identify and resolve operational inefficiencies within the department
  • Contribute to wider firm strategy as part of senior leadership discussions

 

ABOUT YOU

  • Qualified Solicitor in Scotland with strong Private Client experience of atleast 7+ years 
  • Proven track record in wills, trusts, executries, and related areas
  • Experience operating at Senior Associate level or above (or ready for step-up)
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to drive performance
  • Comfortable balancing fee earning with strategic responsibility
  • Ambitious, proactive, and motivated by building and shaping a department
