Job Description

This is a high-profile opportunity to handle a broad range of complex family law matters within a dynamic and well-regarded department.

You will work closely with a senior team while managing your own caseload independently, supporting strategic growth across the practice. The role also includes mentoring junior colleagues, contributing to business development, and helping shape the continued success of the family law offering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a varied caseload of family law matters, including separation, divorce, financial provision, and child-related disputes.
  • Advise clients on negotiated settlements, litigation strategy, and alternative dispute resolution.
  • Represent clients in Sheriff Court proceedings and liaise with counsel for Court of Session matters where required.
  • Provide strategic advice in high-value and complex cases, including cohabitation claims and international aspects.
  • Oversee drafting of key documents such as pleadings, minutes of agreement, and correspondence.
  • Support and mentor junior solicitors and trainees across the team.
  • Contribute to client relationship management and participate in business development initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to provide a seamless client service.

Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years’ PQE with substantial experience in family law at Associate level or above. Strong client-care skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work independently are essential. A proactive, team-focused approach and experience mentoring others will be key to success.
