Job Description

A rare senior leadership opportunity has arisen for a Head of Family Law to join an firm in Aberdeen who has deep roots across the Highlands and North East. This hire is driven by the firm’s ambition to strengthen and grow their Family Law offering, giving the successful candidate the chance to lead the practice, influence strategic direction, and deliver high-quality client work across the North East of Scotland. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining client-facing work with strategic practice development. The successful candidate will manage complex cases, oversee workflows within the Family Law practice, and contribute to the strategic growth and positioning of the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Family Law practice, providing guidance, mentoring, and support to solicitors
• Manage a portfolio of complex family law cases, ensuring high-quality advice and service delivery
• Act as a senior point of contact for clients, strengthening and growing client relationships
• Contribute to strategic initiatives for the growth and positioning of the Family Law practice
• Support business development activities and maintain the practice’s strong market presence

About You

• Experienced Family Law solicitor with significant PQE, ideally 8+ years
• Proven leadership experience, managing client work and contributing to practice development
• Commercially and strategically minded, able to grow a practice while maintaining technical excellence
• Motivated to lead, develop, and influence within a senior leadership capacity
• Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative approach, and a commitment to client service
