Family & Children's Law Solicitor

Job Description

We are a well-established and highly respected legal firm looking for a dedicated and compassionate Family Law Solicitor to join our team. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload of family and children matters, providing empathetic, clear and expert legal advice to clients navigating complex and sensitive personal circumstances. This is an office based role with some flexibility. Full and part-time hours will be considered.

What We Are Looking For

• Qualified Solicitor admitted to practice in Scotland with at least 2 years PQE.
• Strong court advocacy experience within the Sheriff Court system.
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to build trust with clients facing stressful situations.
• Excellent organisational skills with a proactive approach to files and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage an independent caseload of children and family law files from initial client instruction to conclusion.
• Advise clients on divorce, separation, cohabitation agreements, prenuptial agreements, and asset division.
• Handle complex child law matters, including residence, contact disputes, and parental rights.
• Conduct court advocacy regularly and represent clients confidently in the Sheriff Court.
• Represent clients in complex child relocation and child protection cases.
• Instruct and liaise with independent experts, social workers, and child welfare reporters.
• Draft legal documents, court writs, motions, and minutes of agreement.
