We are delighted to partner with this top tier firm who are opneing their first Scottish office in Glasgow inthe very near future.
Our clients are actively seeking 2 experienced Debt Recovery Paralegals in their Dispute Resolution Department based in Glasgow City Centre,
The role will be completely remote for 6 months, thereafter the firm will operate a hybrid working model.
An interesting and varied role, the successful candidates will manage a case load of debt recovery actions across a range of sectors.
The work will include initial contact with clients, pre-litigation recovery and progressing undefended litigation to enforcement.
- Debt Recovery Process Management: Manage a caseload of debt recovery matters from initial instruction to conclusion, including pre-action correspondence, issuing claims, and handling undefended court actions.
- Court Proceedings: Prepare and draft legal documents such as claim forms, particulars of claim. Liaise with the Court in relation to hearings, issuing claims, and responding to procedural matters.
- Client Communication: Regularly update clients on the status of their debt recovery cases, including providing clear and accurate advice on potential outcomes.
- Correspondence: Draft and send formal letters of demand, final notices, and any other required correspondence to debtors.
- Enforcement Actions: Advise clients on and implement various enforcement mechanisms such as earnings arrestments, bank arrestments, and other diligence.
- File Management: Ensure the accurate and timely updating of case files, maintaining detailed records of communications, actions taken, and deadlines.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Debt Recovery Manager and other members of the debt recovery team to ensure efficient management of cases.
We are seeking a candidate who has the following;
- Previous experience working as a paralegal in debt recovery, with a solid understanding of the Scottish legal system, particularly in relation to debt recovery processes and litigation.
- Demonstrable experience in managing the full lifecycle of an undefended court action, from pre-action steps to court hearings and post-decree enforcement.
- Strong knowledge of relevant Scottish legislation, including the Debtors (Scotland) Act 1987 and the Court Rules.
- Experience in using legal case management systems and preparing legal documents in line with court requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients in an accessible manner.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction and maintaining firm standards.
- High attention to detail and a methodical approach to file management and case progression.
