Contentious Construction Solicitor

Job Description

You will join the firm’s Construction & Engineering team, handling a varied caseload of contentious construction matters. The role offers responsibility appropriate to experience, with supervision and support from senior solicitors and partners, and clear scope for development.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of contentious construction matters from inception to resolution
• Advise clients on construction disputes, contractual claims, and related commercial issues
• Draft pleadings, correspondence, and legal documentation for court, adjudication, and tribunal proceedings
• Negotiate settlements and represent clients effectively in complex disputes
• Liaise with clients, counsel, engineers, and other stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with procedural rules, timescales, and case management standards

About You

• Qualified Solicitor in Scotland (NQ–Senior Associate level considered)
• Experience in contentious construction or construction-related litigation
• Strong technical, organisational, and negotiation skills
• Confident client-facing manner with a focus on service and outcomes
• Ability to manage workload independently while contributing to a team
