Ready to put your construction expertise at the heart of the clean energy revolution?

Job Description

Are you a transactional construction solicitor (5+ PQE) ready to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of the clean energy sector?

QED Legal’s client—an international law firm known for combining high-quality work with a genuinely sustainable approach to working life—is seeking an experienced solicitor to join its growing team in Glasgow or Edinburgh. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of Scotland’s transition to net zero, advising on some of the most significant renewable energy, infrastructure, and real estate projects in the market.

In this role, you’ll work closely with developers, funders, contractors, and public sector bodies on complex, high-value projects that are driving the clean energy agenda. From wind, solar, and battery storage developments to wider infrastructure supporting the energy transition, your work will have real-world impact. You’ll advise on a broad range of construction documentation including JCT, NEC and FIDIC contracts, alongside bespoke agreements, collateral warranties, bonds, and guarantees—collaborating with colleagues across real estate, banking, and corporate teams to deliver fully integrated, commercially focused advice.

What sets this opportunity apart is the firm’s clear commitment to doing things differently. In a market often defined by unsustainable workloads, this firm has made a conscious investment in creating an environment where solicitors can thrive. With realistic expectations, strong internal support, and a culture that prioritises both excellence and wellbeing, you’ll be empowered to deliver your best work without compromise.

You’ll bring a strong grounding in transactional construction work, along with a commercial mindset and an understanding of risk allocation, procurement, and the wider context in which major projects are delivered. Just as importantly, you’ll be motivated by the chance to contribute to a sector that is not only growing rapidly, but also making a tangible difference.

This is more than just a career move—it’s an opportunity to align your expertise with a purpose-driven area of law, within a firm that values your development, supports your progression, and recognises the importance of balance.
