Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Communications Executive with expertise in media relations to join the Law Society of Scotland on a fixed term, part-time basis (21 hours p/w) until April 2027.

We are seeking a motivated, dynamic, creative and high-performing professional to join our Communications Team, bringing their skills and expertise to help us create meaningful and impactful communications and engagement with our membership, the public and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities for this role

As Communications Executive you will join a busy Communications Team with a wide and varied remit. The team is responsible for maximising engagement with a range of audiences including Law Society of Scotland members, the public and parliamentarians, and other stakeholders within the legal sector across a range of channels, with a particular focus on press and media.

Working with our staff team and community of volunteers, you will play a key and specialist role within the Communications Team during a time of significant change for the Law Society and Scotland’s legal sector. Using your media relations experience you will draft news releases, pitch stories and handle journalist inquiries alongside developing engaging content for our social media channels and emails to reach our audiences.

You will be a motivated and high-performing team player, with an excellent communications and engagement track record. You will have a flair for developing and delivering engaging content and your attention to detail will be balanced with the ability to see the bigger picture and contribute to our overarching strategy.
