This international law firm is currently recruiting for an Associate to join its market-leading Energy team in Edinburgh.

Job Description

The successful candidate will advise a global client base on complex regulatory and commercial matters linked to clean energy infrastructure and grid transition projects.

The role involves supporting high-profile projects across a range of technologies, including solar, wind (onshore and offshore), nuclear, battery storage, and hydrogen, as well as demand-side applications like data centres. Key responsibilities include drafting and negotiating commercial contracts such as power purchase agreements (PPAs), advising on regulatory frameworks (including support mechanisms like Contracts for Difference), and delivering strategic legal input across emerging energy sectors. The team operates within a full-service project lifecycle, often collaborating across practice groups and jurisdictions.

Applicants should be newly qualified or have up to 2 years’ PQE, ideally with a seat in commercial or energy work and a keen interest in clean energy law. Strong technical skills, a commercial mindset, and the ability to manage competing client demands across multiple projects are essential. Previous experience with clean energy projects or international energy markets (e.g., Europe or the Middle East) is advantageous but not required.

The firm offers hybrid working, high-quality training, and cross-border collaboration opportunities. If this position could be of interest, please do not hesitate to contact either Cameron or Teddie for an initial and confidential discussion. (Assignment 17633)
