We have been exclusively instructed by our client, a Scottish public inquiry, to recruit an experienced Interim Litigation Lawyer for a unique and high-profile project in Edinburgh.

Job Description

This fixed-term role (6–12 months) offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable public-sector experience while contributing to a significant and impactful inquiry.

The successful candidate will join a small legal team and play a key role in analysing, investigating, and preparing complex evidence. This role is well suited to a litigation professional who thrives in a detail-focused, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify relevant witnesses and contribute to the evidence-gathering process
  • Review, analyse and investigate several years’ worth of documentary and factual evidence
  • Prepare clear, well-structured written analysis and legal documentation
  • Work closely with the organisation’s legal team and wider inquiry teams
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support the progress of the inquiry
  • Provide flexible support across a range of legal tasks within a small team

You will bring a minimum of three years’ PQE and a solid background in litigation. The team will also consider experienced lawyers with broader commercial or contracts experience, given the nature of the role. You will have excellent drafting skills and the ability to communicate clear, structured analysis both in writing and verbally. Given the volume and complexity of material, you will be highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail. You will also be adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable working within a small team, engaging confidently with both internal and external stakeholders.

A competitive salary is offered. Hybrid working is available, with a minimum of one office day per week (Tuesday). Part-time arrangements will also be considered (e.g., a four-day week).

If this position could be of interest, please contact Steph or Cameron for a confidential initial discussion. (Assignment 18162)
