AML Risk Manager, Full Time, Permanent, £48,000 per annum

An opportunity has become available to join the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Team as an AML Risk Manager – and this is an opportunity not to be missed!
With a primary focus on undertaking supervisory AML Assurance Reviews, the AML Risk Manager will conduct (mostly remote) investigations into Scottish Legal Firms and assess their compliance with the 2017 Money Laundering Regulations and recognised industry guidance.
The work of the AML Team ensures that the Society fulfils its responsibilities and obligations as the designated AML Professional Body Supervisor of Scottish Legal Firms.

Key Responsibilities for this role
AML Supervisory Assurance Reviews testing the adequacy of Policies, Controls & Procedures (PCPs), wider governance and ability to compile client and matter risk assessments.
Supporting the Head of AML and the Director of Financial Compliance to ensure that the LSS fulfils its responsibilities as a Professional Body Supervisor of AML.
Working in conjunction with the wider AML Team to collect AML data - which is used to risk assess the respective Scottish Legal Firms.
Contribute towards the creation and maintenance of policies, procedures, training material and communications for the benefit of the AML Team, Scottish Legal Firms, the LSS and various regulatory bodies such as the Office for Professional Body Anti-Money Laundering Supervision (OPBAS) and HM Treasury.
Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
In depth knowledge of Customer Due Diligence (CDD) in the UK.
Working knowledge of the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 and the Legal Sector Affinity Group Guidance.
The ability to risk assess and prioritise / manage a busy workload accordingly - planning and managing concurrent assurance tasks and report writing.
Effective written and verbal communication / influencing skills in order to convey important, complex (and sometimes challenging) messages to decision-makers and those under supervision.
