Job Description

It is an exciting time to join the Law Society of Scotland and we have an opportunity within the Interventions Team for two Administrators.

The primary objectives of the Interventions team are to take on Judicial Factory appointments and Interventions into law firms under the Solicitors (Scotland) Act 1980. This role provides key administrative support to the Judicial Factor and Head of Interventions, and to the wider Interventions team, in the operation of these appointments. The bulk of the team’s work emanates from Court appointments made in the Judicial Factory cases, which have specific deadlines to be met and procedures to followed. Following a sustained upturn in the volume of work being carried out by the Interventions team, additional administrative support is now required.

This role plays an important part in protecting the public and maintaining confidence in the legal profession. You will deal with interesting work as we seek to protect and support the public when intervention is required into a law firm.

Key Responsibilities for this role

correspond with enquiries, written and verbal, from various parties
implement mandates for clients of ceased practices
ingather documents to meet requests and production orders from Crown Office, Police and other third parties
assist in the processing of claims and in the recovery of debts with clients of closed firms
occasional work on-site in solicitor offices (Scotland wide) to secure and remove records and files.

Key Knowledge, Skills and  Experience:

paralegal qualification or equivalent would be advantageous
experience in the legal sector or equivalent
experience in a customer facing role
availability to travel anywhere in Scotland at short notice which may also involve some anti-social hours plus overnight stays
