If you are a Debt Recovery Paralegal who enjoys taking ownership of a busy caseload and working closely with clients, I am working on an opportunity in Glasgow that could be a great next step.

Job Description

Joining an established Debt and Asset Recovery team, you will handle a broad mix of commercial and consumer debt recovery matters, including the recovery of money, vehicles and other assets.

You will manage your own caseload with supervision and support, keeping clients informed and helping them understand the options available, the likely costs and the next steps. Much of the role involves speaking with people, so a friendly, confident manner and the ability to handle sensitive conversations with understanding will be important.

The work will include raising and progressing undefended Sheriff Court actions through Simple Procedure, Summary Cause and Ordinary Cause, obtaining decree and instructing diligence. You will also prepare bankruptcy and liquidation petitions and liaise with sheriff officers, solicitors, investigation agents and insolvency practitioners.

Alongside the casework, you will keep records up to date, prepare reports and fee notes, carry out conflict checks and record your time accurately, while ensuring confidential information is handled securely.

You should have a good understanding of Scottish debt recovery procedures and enforcement methods, together with experience of managing a high volume of claims. Being organised, keeping on top of deadlines and knowing when to ask for support will help you do well in this role.

If you enjoy this area of work and would like to find out more, please get in touch with Deborah Collier at QED Legal for a confidential chat.
