Eden Scott are delighted to be working with one of Scotland's top full service international law firms. Our client provides advice that is commercially focused yet practical, engaging with Companies, Public Sector Bodies and individuals, to provide legal information which allows for well informed decisions.

The private client department are seeking the ideal candidate to join their leading team, to help them deliver the quality, timely and trustworthy legal advice that their client's have come to expect. The team are seeking a Paralegal, dealing with the Accounts and Administration for Trusts. The candidate will be expected to provide administration assistance to partner level and other fee-earners within the department, as and when required. The role will entail primarily working within the Tax, Trust and Executries team.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking all administration work associated with Trusts.
  • Communicating regularly with HMRC and with OSCR.
  • Responsible for ensuring that Trustees administrative decisions are implemented, and will arrange any financial transactions as necessary.
  • Liaising with fee-earners (including tax compliance), Financial Advisers, Investment Managers and Accountants as required. Some client contact also.
  • Organising diary of any relevant trust dates.
  • Preparing agendas, attending meetings, taking minutes and circulating appropriate documentation if required.
  • Preparation of trust accounts and operation of trust accounts diary.
  • Possible preparation of executry accounts – can be discussed.
  • Administration and planning of feeing processes.
  • Work with Partners and fee-earners to review existing trust protocols and styles.
  • Contribution to team knowledge management and Business Development as required.
  • May attend some client meetings.
  • Typing and dictation management.
  • Client communication, both written and verbal.
  • Collation of papers and file management.

General organisation and any other administration as required by the team.

Knowledge Required:

  • Strong prior experience in this area 
  • Efficient use of MS Office (including Excel) essential and previous experience of using Digital Dictation preferable
  • Great interpersonal skills – ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and intermediaries.
  • Proactive, reliable and adaptable attitude
  • Good team working skills and willingness to learn
  • Ability to prioritise workload, work efficiently and to use own initiative
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Flexibility – ability (and willingness) to work outwith normal working hours
