Trainee Solicitor Role 

We are a high street law firm looking to recruit a Trainee Solicitor to be based in our Duns office in the Borders. This vacancy has come about as a result of our firm’s ongoing growth and development. This is an exciting full-time office-based position, with excellent career progression opportunity.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assisting Partner, NQ Solicitor and Paralegal level colleagues with Conveyancing and Private Client matters
  • Taking instructions from clients
  • Drafting and proofing legal documents 
  • Reviewing title deeds and lease documentation 
  • Researching legal matters
  • Dealing with all aspects of the residential and commercial conveyancing process
  • Assisting with Executry Estates, Wills and Powers of Attorney
  • Assisting with agricultural and rural legal matters

  • Client/general public facing work experience
  • The ability to manage your own workload and the awareness to know when to request additional support
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Business awareness and problem solving with commercial insight
  • Ability to identify legal vs business issues
  • Relationship building and collaborating with colleagues and clients
  • Leadership and management capabilities, for oneself and others
