Start date - Autumn 2020
Working within a busy in-house legal team of one of the UK’s leading companies, the role of a trainee will see you working alongside stakeholders in various business areas. Within the legal team, we manage legal, regulatory and reputational risk and help deliver the right solutions for our internal customers. Our job is to help everyone do the right thing.
We are fully committed to supporting new entrants to the legal profession. This opportunity is the first step in your legal career and, with the perfect mix of support and challenge, we’ll help you build a career you’ll love, as you help us to shape our future in an increasingly fast paced and digitally focused banking industry. A key aim of our training contract scheme is to improve social mobility and diversity in the legal profession.
We’re looking for people who are critical thinkers, able to overcome a range of challenges and who are keen to progress a career within the banking industry. You’ll have first class communication skills, both written and verbal, and the interpersonal skills to negotiate and challenge as appropriate, as you work to become a trusted advisor to our stakeholders. You’ll also have real initiative and an innovative mindset when it comes to your work, with a meticulous approach to problem solving and attention to detail.
To be eligible for our training contract scheme, you’ll need to possess a Scottish Law Degree result of, at least, a 2:1. Applicants who do not receive these grades due to personal circumstances may still be considered. Extenuating circumstances should be listed in the application form. Applicants must also have completed or be in the process of completing the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice.
Successful applicants will follow a two year programme which will consist of four six month seats, across different legal areas. This may include one external seat with one of the leading UK law firms on our panel.
The contract will be for a two year fixed period.
An initial application form is provided and must be completed by all candidates who wish to be considered. No CVs will be accepted. Please send the completed application form to email@example.com.
Successful applicants will be invited to attend a second round assessment centre in early March 2020 (dates to be confirmed).
Closing date for applications: midnight on Monday 3rd February 2020
