Job Description

If you’re a commercial insurance litigation solicitor with 2+ years’ PQE and considering your next move in Glasgow, this could be exactly the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Whether you’re already at Associate level or aiming to step up, you’ll be joining one of Scotland’s most progressive and rapidly expanding insurance litigation teams.

Following continued growth, QED Legal’s client is looking to appoint a driven solicitor who’s keen to play a meaningful role in the evolution of their commercial litigation practice. This isn’t a role where you’ll be boxed in—you’ll have the freedom to take ownership of your caseload, contribute ideas, and develop your expertise within a supportive and forward-thinking team environment.

A key focus of the role is subrogated recoveries—an area offering both challenge and long-term career value. You’ll handle matters where insurers pursue recovery from third parties, often involving complex liability questions, high-value disputes, and multiple stakeholders. It’s a space where legal precision meets commercial strategy, giving you early responsibility, direct client interaction, and the satisfaction of delivering measurable financial outcomes. With recovery work remaining a strategic priority for insurers, this is a specialism that continues to grow in demand.

You’ll ideally have experience in subrogated recoveries alongside a solid grounding in insurance litigation, perhaps gained within a well-regarded Central Belt firm. That said, your ambition, commercial mindset, and enthusiasm to develop within a high-performing team will be just as important.

And yes—flexibility here isn’t just a line in the job spec that quietly disappears after your first week. This team has genuinely held onto the spirit of 2021: hybrid working that actually means hybrid, autonomy over your schedule, and no raised eyebrows if you log on from your kitchen table, a coffee shop, or somewhere with slightly better weather (within reason, of course). It’s all built on trust and output, not presenteeism.

Opportunities like this don’t come along often—this is a firm where your input is valued, your growth is actively supported, and your career progression is taken seriously.

Having partnered with this client across the UK for several years, I can confidently speak to their strong culture, quality of work, and commitment to their people.
