SEPA is Scotland’s principal environmental regulator. But we do much more than solely regulate.

Job Description

We realise that the only successful societies in the 21st Century will be ones that are very low in environmental impact. This will require major innovation. Our internal processes and our partnership work need to be world-class to achieve this. This role will play a critical role in making it happen. So, we need the best person for this role, ensuring they work closely with other SEPA portfolios to help SEPA achieve this world-class excellence.  If you think that is you, we'd love to receive your application.

The purpose of this role is to assist the Corporate Solicitor to deliver legal advice for SEPA with particular focus in the areas of employment law, equalities, access to information legislation (including the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004, the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2015 and the Data Protection Act 1998 and subsequent legislation), records management and general governance.

As a qualified Solicitor with a current practicing certificate, you will have an LL.B and Dip.L.P or equivalent credentials. Providing high-quality, with a strong customer focus, you’ll work as a key member of the team, planning and organising work to meet regular deadlines. That means having the ability to work flexibly and prioritise your workload. To appreciate the potential impact of legal advice on SEPA, you’ll need to have a basic technical and scientific understanding of our work and demonstrate excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.

Our staff members enjoy flexible working arrangements, the opportunity to join our pension scheme and many other benefits.
