Job Description

Our occupational disease and casualty practise groups are widely recognised as market leaders in this area with a focus on getting the correct outcomes for our clients. Our clients range from major UK and specialist insurers, legacy insurers, large corporations and public sector clients. We have handled some of the most important cases in this area of law of recent years.

The caseload for this position will cover a mixture occupational disease and casualty claims for a wide range of clients. The occupational disease work will include carpal tunnel syndrome, HAVS, NIHL/tinnitus and all forms of asbestos-related claims. The casualty element will focus on EL/PL claims of varying values. Day to day duties will include all aspects of file handling, obtaining precognitions, instructing experts, instructing counsel, negotiating settlement, attending pre-trial meetings, proofs and other court hearings. It will also involve assisting senior members of the team on complex large loss claims in relation to these practise areas. Handling these complex claims requires a combination of technical expertise, sound judgement and good attention to detail in order to deliver the best commercial outcome for our clients.

Experience of conducting litigation in the Court of Session and in the Personal Injury Sheriff Court is essential.

We are keen to hear from candidates with previous experience of handling personal injury cases, ideally with experience of occupational disease claims. We are looking for candidates who have the ability to analyse, evaluate and communicate information logically, together with proficient IT skills.

In return, we offer a nurturing and collaborative environment alongside a competitive salary. Our company benefits include 25 days holiday allowance, the option to purchase further holidays, an additional day off for your birthday, pension scheme, health cash plan, life assurance and income protection. We also offer a number of discounts to use for gym membership, car leasing, mobile phones and insurance products.
