This role will be primarily based from home with regular travel, when required, to Wheatley House in Glasgow and other Wheatley Group offices.
Increasing the supply of quality, affordable homes which meet the needs and aspirations of our communities is a key focus for Wheatley Group.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a solicitor to join our Group Property Legal team to support Wheatley Group in meeting those objectives.
In addition to supporting the Group’s development activities, the successful candidate will be a key point of contact for teams across Group in relation to all construction matters associated with the organisation’s development programme, associated funding activity and ad hoc procurement and commercial contracts advice.
The role is varied and challenging, with the provision of client-focussed legal advice at its core, and includes the negotiation and drafting of all types of transactional construction documentation (including call-offs from third party frameworks) and NEC based services contracts.
We believe that providing a great service to our customers starts with employing great staff, and Wheatley Group works hard to be an employer of choice in Scotland.
As an employee you will receive a comprehensive benefits package which includes a generous holiday allowance.
Good communications skills are essential in order to establish solid client relationships quickly and provide effective and pragmatic advice to colleagues at all levels.
The successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate a flexible approach in meeting the changing demands and priorities of the Group and be able to effectively manage workload in a fast paced multiple-client environment.
Required skills and experience: LLB Degree or equivalent, Diploma in Legal Practice or equivalent, Membership of the Law Society of Scotland with a current and unrestricted practising certificate, housebuilding/ development experience. Transactional construction experience gained in an institutionally funded context is desirable, however candidates with development real estate or commercial contracts experience will also be considered.

We actively celebrate our individual differences and recognise the collective strength this brings our organisation. It’s important our teams represent the communities we serve, and we welcome applications from any under-represented groups.
