Job Description

The Law Society’s policy team looks to influence the creation of a fairer and more just society, in line with our strategy of Leading Legal Excellence. Through this strategy, the legal policy team aims to communicate the views of our members and the clients they serve and to influence the creation of a fairer and more just society by being an international centre of excellence in thought leadership.

The legal policy team has a temporary vacancy for a Policy Executive (Civil, property).This role will take lead responsibility for supporting legal policy committees relating to civil law, including property law issues. This work will see the successful applicant engaging with stakeholders in Scotland, the UK and Europe on legislative and policy developments across a range of practice areas and issues.

Candidates will possess a relevant degree, have highly developed oral and written skills, have an understanding of Parliamentary procedure and the Scottish legal system and be able to understand / explain complex issues clearly and precisely. An understanding of the legal aid system in Scotland would be desirable.

Candidates must be competent in the use of Microsoft word and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a motivated team, capable of working across numerous projects simultaneously.

This vacancy is temporary for a period of up to one year.
