Silver Circle Firm in London are looking to add an Associate with between 0 and 2 Years’ PQE to their leading Pensions team in London, and are happy to consider summer-qualifying NQs from Scotland.

Job Description

This is a perfect opportunity for both summer-qualifying NQs who are keen to develop a practice in Pensions law within a leading team, and for Pensions Junior Associates who are keen to take a step-up to a Silver Circle firm in London.

The Role

This team has a track record of excellence - it is Tier 1 ranked in Legal 500, Band 1 ranked in Chambers, with many of its lawyers also recognised in these directories.

It is at the leading edge of innovation in pensions law and practice, advising many of the UK’s largest pension funds as well as major employers on the full gamut of contentious and non-contentious Pensions matters, from issues affecting pension schemes, through to pensions disputes, structuring, governance, de-risking transactions and the operation of The Pensions Regulator’s regulatory powers. Selected transactions worked on by this team include acting for the trustee of the Nortel Networks UK Pension Plan on its £2.4 billion buyout with Legal & General, the largest "PPF plus" pension buyout to date, and its exit from its 10-year Pension Protection Fund assessment period.

The Candidate

Applications are encouraged from individuals with a desire to develop a practice in Pensions law. For Junior Associates, prior exposure to Pensions would be helpful. In the case of summer-qualifying NQ Applicants, a prior seat in Pensions or a complementary practice area will be absolutely fine – this Firm are happy to consider NQ’s with a genuine desire to develop a practice in Pensions.

Applicants must be qualified in a U.K jurisdiction (or in the case of summer-qualifying NQs, due to be admitted in a U.K. jurisdiction upon qualification).

Opportunities like this are exceptionally rare - particularly insofar as they give Scotland based summer-qualifiers the opportunity to secure an NQ role in London. If this role sounds of interest, please contact Dominic Roberts in confidence at dominic.roberts@qedlegal.com or on (+44) 7857 439 641
