Wheatley is Scotland’s leading housing, care and property-management group. It comprises five Registered Social Landlords, a care organisation and a commercial subsidiary.

Job Description

The Group provides homes and services to over 210,000 people in 19 local authority areas across Scotland

Wheatley Group believes that providing a great service to our customers starts with employing great staff, and works hard to be an employer of choice in Scotland. Wheatley offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes a generous holiday allowance.

Increasing the supply of quality, affordable homes which meet the needs and aspirations of our communities is a key focus for Wheatley Group. Wheatley’s multi-award-winning regeneration team operates across Scotland and was instrumental in Wheatley Group being named as the UK’s biggest developer of social rented homes in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 by Inside Housing.

Two new opportunities have arisen for paralegals to join our Property Legal Team to support Wheatley Group’s development programme and general land holding activity:

The Paralegal (Construction) will work with colleagues to support Group Development Programme on an end to end basis including the preparation, negotiation and in-gathering of appointment, warranty and associated construction documentation, funding related construction legal enquiries and general construction legal enquiries.
The Paralegal (Property) will work with colleagues to support Group conveyancing activities, including miscellaneous disposals and corrective conveyancing, servitudes and wayleaves, shared ownership, commercial property and lease work and general real estate legal enquiries.

These roles are varied and challenging with the provision of client-focussed legal support to colleagues at their core.

Communications skills are essential in order to establish solid client relationships quickly and provide effective and pragmatic advice to colleagues at all levels.  You must also be able to demonstrate a flexible approach in meeting the changing demands and priorities of the Group and be able to effectively manage your own workload in a fast paced multiple-client environment.

Required skills and experience: relevant qualification or directly related work experience.

Wheatley Group is committed to equality and diversity and is an equal opportunity employer.
