Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

With our continued focus on expanding our existing Corporate team in Aberdeen, we have the following exciting opportunity for a newly qualified lawyer. As part of the Corporate team, this role offers the opportunity to develop your skills and experience across a broad range of corporate activity. You will be involved in a wide range of corporate and commercial matters including mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, general corporate issues for companies and their directors/shareholders, company and business start-ups, incorporation of businesses, company reorganisations, shareholder agreements and the interests of minority and majority shareholders, and partnerships. In this role you will work closely with the partners within the Corporate team and more widely across the Corporate and Commercial Department. CORE TASKS

• Advising clients on corporate and commercial matters

• Drafting a wide variety of legal research, contractual documents and papers for client advice and/or wider publication

• Assisting clients to meet their overall business objectives

• Helping win new work and clients for the firm

• Working as part of the corporate team on deals

• This is a demanding role which offers considerable client contact but also requires an ability to manage client relationships well, together with strong commercial contract drafting skills

• The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to think creatively when looking at issues, proposing solutions and identifying how best to produce the right result for our clients

• Be aware of information security policies, and protect information assets from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference at all times

• To be able to engage with clients and team members

• To want to have a wider understanding of all of the law that may be relevant for commercial businesses in order to be able to at least pick up on some of issues that will ultimately be dealt with by more specialist teams – e.g. tax, property, employment
