Job Description

Core-Asset Consulting’s client, a prominent and market leading legal firm, has a new opportunity for a Newly Qualified Real Estate Solicitor to be based in its prestigious offices in central Edinburgh to support two of the Real Estate teams. You will have ideally have had a minimum of a six months in a property based seat and now seeking an opportunity to work for two highly regarded Partners in a market leading firm.

Working across two teams you will be providing advice and support on some property finance and investment deals but primarily focussing upon occupier work across a range of sectors, including well-known retail and leisure businesses. The other element focusses on high worth investment deals such as shopping centres, retail, offices and leisure operators focusing on real estate finance largely on the lender side.

A significant proportion of its deal flow comes from London referrals, providing an opportunity to work alongside City firms so the role presents an excellent opportunity to work in a supportive and cohesive structure. The successful individual will be able to develop a strong skill base in across a broad spectrum of real estate with the opportunity for increasing autonomy as they progress in their career. It is important you have excellent client facing skills and enjoy being involved in building and maintaining client relationships on an ongoing basis.

Core responsibilities

  • Negotiating commercial leases, on behalf of landlords and tenants
  • Noting title and report drafting for clients
  • Drafting, negotiating and implementing acquisition/sale missives for a variety of transaction types
  • Analysing and reporting on leases in the retail, industrial, office and leisure sectors
  • General property management for various types of client/properties for various portfolios
  • Building and maintaining client and agent relationships
  • Involvement in business development activities linked to the team’s, the department’s and the firm’s strategic plan

Core Individual

  • Completion of seat within commercial property is desirable
  • Can demonstrate active interest and enthusiasm for property industry
  • Takes personal responsibility to learn on the job and keep knowledge up to date
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Communicates in a confident, clear and relaxed way
  • Adapts style of communication appropriately when dealing with colleagues and clients

  • Shows understanding of clients’ needs, and tailor’s advice appropriately
  • Works to understand the department’s key clients, the industry they operate in and the challenges they face
