Our banking team sits within our company commercial group (CCPG). CCPG handles transactions for a broad range of financial institutions, funds and large private and listed companies.

Job Description

We enable our lawyers to stretch their skills and gain experience few other law firms can offer, drawing on the opportunities and resources of an international firm with an award winning and innovative approach.

We are looking for talented and ambitious Scottish qualified associates to join the banking team. This opportunity would suit a Locum, consultant or contractor with a minimum of 4 years PQE.

We are open to candidates based anywhere in the Uk but they must be Scottish qualified.

We are a modern, progressive law firm. We think differently and we have built a culture where

individual skills and personalities can shine through.  We believe that innovation comes from having an inclusive culture of genuine equality and diversity.

Key responsibilities:

The banking team is looking for a Scottish qualified banking lawyer to supplement our existing Scottish banking team. The role will cover a broad range of work, supporting predominantly general corporate lending and real estate finance transactions.  We act for a wide range of corporate borrowers and lenders on national and international transactions.  With a varied workload and quality client base you will have a great opportunity to hone your skills, build your profile, and to help us strengthen and develop the team.

The ES banking team acts for banks (in particular, RBS, Barclays, Lloyds and HSBC), private equity funds and corporate borrowers, which will give you the opportunity to gain broad experience on high quality deals.

You will regularly work alongside our highly successful real estate and corporate teams, as well as tax, funds and regulatory colleagues, amongst others.

Skills and experience:

The candidate should have a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience in banking and finance.   You should be a team player, client focused, and a good communicator with a practical approach to your workload.

Key Competencies

  • Strong transaction, people management and technical skills.
  • A good communicator with an ability to interpret complex legal issues into plain English, risk based, advice for clients.
  • A strong team player, with a high level of commitment to client care.
  • Flexibility, and an ability to apply key skills and technical knowledge to a wide variety of transactions.

At Eversheds Sutherland, we recognise that having diverse talent across our business brings many benefits, and we are committed to accessing a wide range of views and thinking in all that we do. A culture of inclusion, where each person feels able to be their true self at work and reach their full potential is key. We recognise that bringing together the perspectives of individuals of all backgrounds, life experiences, preferences and beliefs is critical if we are to serve our global client base, people and communities as a leading global legal practice.

Should you require any reasonable adjustments to enable participation in the recruitment process, please contact us so that we can discuss how to best to assist.

We are open to considering flexible working options for our vacancies.  Whilst we are not able to offer flexible working across all of our roles, many of our people work flexibly in some way, and we would encourage you to talk to us about this during the hiring process if you would like to explore further.

We are an LGBT+ inclusive employer and are Stonewall Corporate Champions.
