Job Description

We have an excellent opportunity for a Legal Counsel working with a Legal team supporting a number of Regional teams and Head Offices across the UK. Reporting to the General Counsel and Group Company Secretary, you will take ownership of and proactively provide general legal advice to the business.

You will be responsible for implementing any programmes agreed with the General Counsel for the restructuring of internal systems. You will offer social media support  to the Marketing team, and support the General Counsel with initiatives where they are the Executive sponsor. You will provide assistance to the General Counsel to resolve legal and strategic issues facing the business and develop expertise on litigation and regulation impacting the business. You will be required to liaise with external legal advisors as well as external investors and funders to obtain necessary approvals.

Additionally, you will assist with the management of training programmes working with HR and external providers, as well as carrying out Anti Money Laundering training. You will carry out compliance audits covering Anti Money Laundering, Data Protection, Competition Law, Anti-Bribery, Companies Act, amongst others. You will be required to carry out legal and administrative duties as required.

The ideal candidate will hold a university degree and hold qualification as a Solicitor or Barrister in England or Scotland, with 4 – 6 years post qualification experience in litigation and/ or a commercial background. You must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in addition to strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence others. This is a fast paced role so you need to be adaptable with the ability to react to conflicting priorities.
