Job Description

This in-house organisation is currently recruiting a Junior Solicitor to join its Private Client team in Edinburgh.  The ideal candidate should be at the NQ – 2 years’ pqe level and you should have some private client experience.  Previous experience of the insurance and savings industry would also be beneficial.  In this role you will help support the trust and estate planning proposition as well as dealing with all aspects of customer contracts, marketing materials and business acceptance criteria.

Key Responsibilities  

  • Proactively keeping abreast of legal changes and considering how these will affect Standard Life and maintaining knowledge of legislation, regulatory requirements and case law to support the provision of high quality legal advice.
  • Providing high quality legal advice in a practical and clear format while maintaining a customer focus at all times.
  • Developing and maintaining a good working knowledge of the business products and propositions.
  • Provide detailed legal, technical and commercial input to projects or propositions to ensure clarity, fairness and enforceability and to ensure that legal, regulatory and reputational risk is managed appropriately.
  • Reviewing and accurately drafting high quality legal documentation.
  • The facilitation and coordination of internal stakeholders involved in the drafting and sign off process for customer documentation, ensuring their comments are incorporated (where appropriate) and requisite approvals obtained.
