An international law firm are looking for a data privacy lawyer with 3 – 5 PQE to join its in-house Privacy and Data function.

Job Description

This Firm are keen to hear from both UK-qualified private practice lawyers who are looking to transition to a more client facing role with no chargeable hour targets, but also in-house lawyers who are looking to continue in a client facing role but with the support and salary found in private practice.

The successful candidate can be based out of any of this Firm’s UK offices (Aberdeen, Birmingham, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London and Manchester). It has a flexible working policy with 2-3 days in the office each week.

Candidates Required

Applicants should be UK qualified data privacy lawyers with between 3 – 5 years’ PQE, gained in either private practice or in-house, with demonstrable data protection experience.

Additional data protection related professional qualifications would be viewed extremely favourably.

The Role

You will join this Firm’s internal Privacy and Data team, headed by the firm’s Privacy and Data Counsel (a highly experienced data privacy lawyer with over 20 years’ experience) and comprising other specialist data privacy colleagues based across the UK and internationally.

In this role you shall be responsible for:

  • providing legal advice and guidance on global privacy and data-related matters with a primary focus on the UK data privacy regime;
  • carrying out risk assessments, draft privacy notices, review supplier documentation and advising on marketing issues affecting business operations;
  • advising on compliance issues with regards to confidentiality and non-personal data; and
  • researching key requirements of data law applicable to the firm’s business worldwide, with a primary focus on the UK and liaising with external advisers and other offices of the firm in respect of such requirements.

What makes this role special?

You will be joining a high performing, friendly legal team which places the utmost emphasis on training and development. You will get all the benefits of an in-house role (client contact, cross departmental collaboration and no chargeable hour targets) but with the support, infrastructure and salary attaching to private practice.
