Job Description

Our client is looking to recruit an additional in-house regulatory lawyers to join their team on a 12 month fixed term contract. Supporting the Retail Banking Legal Team, you will provide targeted, commercially focused regulatory legal advice to the business on product development, operational processes and consumer credit related queries.

The ideal candidate will be at least two years’ post qualified and have regulatory experience but candidates with experience working within financial services, corporate, banking or a commercial contracts role will also be considered.  Candidates looking for a part-time or flexible working role will also be considered.

The Role will involve;

  • providing targeted, commercially focussed regulatory legal advice to the business on product development, operational processes, regulatory legal issues, customer documentation and journeys, demonstrating an awareness of the commercial implications of their advice and the customer outcomes
  • responsible for identifying legal risks, changes and issues to the business and proactively working with them to minimise the impacts and rectify issues in a regulatory and legal compliant manner
  • identifying and appropriately escalating high risk or complex issues
  • monitoring changes in law, regulation, regulatory approach and best practice and managing those changes with the business

The successful candidate will provide effective and timely legal advice on a broad range of specialist and complex legal matters to support the business. You will develop relationships as a key trusted adviser, taking the time to understand the relevant business areas to be able to provide targeted and relevant advice. You should be a confident and self-motivated individual with a desire to work in a challenging in-house legal role.
