Job Description

Core Asset Consulting’s Client, an International Financial Services business, where due to continued growth has an opportunity for a qualified Solicitor to join their Edinburgh Commercial Contracts Team on a permanent basis.

You will assist the business by identifying and managing legal risks. This will involve focusing on contractual matters, contract negotiation, project work, providing general legal advice to the business and aiding with data protection compliance.

You will have significant exposure to senior executives across various functions of the organisation where you will be expected to provide legal advice and counsel on a range of matters. This is great opportunity to build strong working relationships and to influence decision makers, and assist with the provision of legal opinion and recommendations.

Core requirements:

  • Scottish or English Qualified Lawyer or Barrister
  • Experience of drafting and negotiating legal contracts
  • Ideally experience of financial services, in either in industry or private practice
  • Will consider candidates with strong commercial contracts experience from other disciplines
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritise own work.
  • Proven skills in making business decisions as well as legal decisions
  • The ability to deliver high quality results in advance of deadlines with a proactive and positive approach
  • Excellent communication skills and poses the ability to influence internally and externally and collaborate effectively within anD across teams.

Core responsibilities:

  • Assist in the drafting, review, and amendment of legal agreements with clients and service providers.
  • Knowledge of the law and technical requirements relating to commercial contractual issues.
  • Assist with the implementation of ad-hoc projects and participate in project teams as identified
  • Carry out research work, identify and analyse new legislation and proactively propose and implement solutions as necessary.
  • Ensure that the company’s contractual documentation is of the appropriate standard.
  • Support senior executives throughout the Group and provide legal advice within their own area of specialism.
  • Provide legal opinion and recommendations that support the strategic and commercial decision making process. 
  • Carry out complex research and apply this to business specific requirements.
  • Ability to provide advice following analysis of complex situations, and after taking account of multiple sources of information.
