As a qualified solicitor, you will be an individual who has credible legal and advisory experience as well as bringing the required leadership and management experience to build and shape a new team.
In this new role you will lead our Legal and Compliance function, which is part of the Internal Audit and Business Improvement department that sits within the Chief Executive’s Office. The team currently consists of a Legal and Compliance Manager and a Legal and Compliance Administrator with approval to recruit a further qualified lawyer.
As Head of Legal and Compliance you will have a significant degree of autonomy in shaping the new team as well as responsibility for developing a cohesive strategy to deal with the complexity and diversity of the workload, implement procedures to assist with the function, as well as commissioning external legal advice as appropriate.
You will be responsible for a range of matters, including copyright and IPR, public law, contract law, legal and company secretarial work, as well as your managerial duties. Your role will consist of providing expert legal advice, managing legal risk and safeguarding the reputation of the organisation. You will also be responsible for liaising with Senior Management and the Board, ensuring legal compliance within the organisation and supporting the Board in the implementation of key business decisions.
