Job Description

Core Asset Consulting’s Client, a prominent, highly regarded and multi award winning legal firm, has an opportunity for a solicitor to join their corporate team on a permanent based in Edinburgh.

In this role, you will be exposed to a wide range of high quality corporate and commercial matters including mergers and acquisitions. You will have a strong interest in, and some understanding of, corporate structures and partnerships, such as limited liability partnerships and Scottish limited partnerships, cross border joint ventures and corporate reorganisations relative to groups of companies.

Core responsibilities:

  • Advising clients on corporate and commercial matters
  • Assisting clients to meet their overall business objectives
  • Strong project management skills
  • Being part of the corporate team on the larger deals and dealing with our and other lawyers
  • Data room management
  • Diligence reporting
  • Document drafting and negotiation
  • Undertaking legal research and drafting papers for client advice and/or wider publication
  • Participating in business development to support in winning new work and clients for the firm

Core requirements:

  • Scottish Qualified Solicitor with over 1+ year PQE (preferably)
  • Ambitious
  • Interest and enthusiasm for corporate and commercial work
  • Having an enquiring mind and thinking about why something is the case and how best to produce the result the client wants in the way wanted
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Adapts style of communication appropriately when dealing with colleagues and clients
  • Takes personal responsibility to learn on the job and keep knowledge up to date
  • Shows understanding of clients’ needs and tailors advice appropriately
  • Strong drafting and written communication skills
  • An ability to understand commercial clients and how they operate their businesses
