CALA ARE LOOKING TO RECRUIT AN ASSISTANT LEGAL COUNSEL. THE POSITION, WHICH IS BASED IN EDINBURGH, WILL REPORT TO THE HEAD OF LEGAL.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be expected to take on significant levels of responsibility for relationships within the business as well as managing a busy work load. As a result, the candidate will gain hands on experience and develop their skills.

Responsibilities will include providing general legal advice to the business, carrying out anti-money laundering training, general compliance training and audits.   You will provide general support on property matters.  There will be an element of Company secretarial duties i.e. processing board appointments and resignations, updating powers of attorney, filing companies house forms, accounts, maintaining statutory books and PSC registers, maintaining the register of directors’ interests and looking after company data protection registrations.  You will ensure the business complies with laws and regulations that concern their products and services and promote best practice across the business through training, research and teaching.

The Assistant Legal Counsel will enjoy a varied role and excellent career prospects. The team are looking to bring in in a bright and ambitious junior solicitor with high quality training as well as a desire to take on high levels of responsibility within a small team. The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer who is newly qualified or up to 2 years PQE.  Self-motivated and pro-active team player who is reliable and flexible and has a ‘can do’ attitude.  Excellent communication skills and experience of communicating across all levels within a business are essential.  You must be able to demonstrate the ability to handle a varied and busy workload.
