The Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland has been in existence since 2002. Its role is to recommend to the Scottish Ministers individuals for appointment to judicial offices. Since its creation in 2002, the Judicial Appointments Board has worked hard - and is continuing to work hard - to bring transparency to the selection process and to build a system in which the public, the profession and the politicians can have trust and confidence.
